A bassist with a solid reputation, an award-winning composer and bandleader, and a renowned educator; Barcelona-born Alexis Cuadrado has become one of the most sought-after musicians in the New York jazz scene. Cuadrado’s compositions show a unique voice that combines improvised and through-composed music, while drawing influences from jazz, new music and flamenco.
His output as a composer has peaked in recent years, with new works such as A Lorca Soundscape (Commissioned in 2011 by Chamber Music America), Jazz Miniatures for Double Quartet (Commissioned in 2012 by The Jazz Gallery), Hispalis (Finalist of the 2012 BMI-Charlie Parker Composition Competition) and Noneto Ibérico (A 2009 commission by Chamber Music America).
