She was a Brazilian singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. Since she began to be successful in the 1970s, Beth has become one of the greatest samba performers, helping to reveal names such as Luiz Carlos da Vila, Jorge Aragão, Zeca Pagodinho, Almir Guineto, group Fundo de Quintal, Arlindo Cruz, and Quinteto in White and Black. Beth Carvalho was born in Rio de Janeiro, on May 5, 1946, and passed away on April 30, 2019.

Beth Carvalho was born in the working class suburb of Gamboa but was raised in the middle class South Side. At the age of seven, she was performing in novice shows in several Carioca radios, like the Nacional. At the same time, she studied musical theory at the Escola Nacional de Música.
