A three-piece vocals/trumpet/drums electronica band filtered via 1970s Milesian metafunk. Inspired by the 1950's magical realism of Garcia Marquez.
The band moniker Eyes of a Blue Dog derives from a short story by the great Latin American 'Magical Realist' author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and this recording indeed evokes something of the novelette's subliminal dream-like narrative and sense of mystery on their debut release Rise. It is an entirely diverting and refreshing new collaboration between the North London LOOP Collective trumpeter Rory Simmons (also on guitars and electronic devices), the renowned Norwegian drummer and ambient electronics soundscaper Terje Evensen and upcoming UK-based singer-lyricist Elisabeth Nygård.
