FURIO DI CASTRI , born in Milano, september 12, 1955. He went to music at 11 years old, playing the trumpet. Move to the electric bass at age 13. Formerly he is a self-taught musician, beginning to play with rhythm and blues and progressive rock bands. He recorded his first album in 1973 (Dedalus, Trident records) then started with the double bass. In 1978 he moved to Rome, where he started to play with tenor saxophonist Maurizio Giammarco and with altoist Massimo Urbani. In Rome he met Chet Baker, with whom he would have kept playing on and off since 1988. In the same period he also became very active in Milan, playing with Larry Nocella, Luigi Bonafede and Franco d'Andrea, and sitting in with musicians as Walter Davis jr, Jimmy Knepper, Freddie Hubbard, Art Farmer.
