Harry Sokal, tenor and soprano sax, looks back over a meteoric career spanning 25 years including collaborations with Art Blakey, Idris Muhammad, Wynton Marsalis, Johnny Griffin, Gene Jackson, Andy McKee, Kenny Clarke, Art Farmer, Palle Mikkelbourg, Terje Rypdal, Michel Portal and many others. He began in jazz at the age of 10 with Frank Zappa‘s keyboarder Peter Wolf. In 1977 he joined the Vienna Art Orchestra, a cooperation lasting until today, as well as being a member of the Art Farmer Quintet for 15 years. Both formations have played the major festivals around the globe. Other highlights have been his work with the Carla Bley Big Band, Friedrich Gulda‘s Paradise Band or as a member of the Paris scene centered around Daniel Humair. He has represented Austria in the EBU Big Band and has even raved with DJ Sven Väth in Munich. lately he joined the Band of Eric Ineke & Wolfert
