Kirsten Edkins is an exciting young saxophonist and composer residing in Los Angeles. As a graduate from the prestigious Eastman School of Music where she attended on scholarship, Kirsten studied with Walt Weiskopf and the legendary Ray Ricker, and expanded her musical education studying composition and arranging with Bill Dobbins. Prior to her tenure at Eastman, she also studied with woodwind specialist and jazz recording artist Bob Sheppard.
As a sought after improviser, Miss Edkins has performed with Arturo Sandoval, Albert “Tootie” Heath, Gary Smulyan, Tim Hagans, Larry Goldings, Clay Jenkins, Sara Gazarek, John Beasley, Geoffrey Keezer, the Clare Fischer Big Band, Bill Holman Big Band, John Daversa Band, Gary Foster, Bob Sheppard, Joe LaBarbara, Larry Koonse, Pete Christlieb, Rick Braun, Steve Tyrell, the New York Voices, and Wycliffe Gordon amongst othe
