The answer to all of those questions is yes. As far as notes between D and D#, that is what is called quarter tones or microtones. Microtones exist in other cultures and are also being explored by many western composers and musicians.

isn't it true that any combination of 3 different notes constitutes a chord? and that the same is true for any combination of 4, 5 or 6 different notes or even more if you consider a piano? and isn't it also true that there aren't any names for many of these potential chords? the musical alphabet consists of 12 different notes - correct? which means that there are millions of potential chords - correct? and another thought is that if you bend a D note on a guitar you can produce a tone halfway between a D and D sharp and if you wanted to give a name to notes such as this then you could expand the no. of possible chords into the billions thanks
