You never know where you might hear good music. I was stuck at Houston's Hobby Airport last Thursday December 27 for a couple hours, but fortunately there was a trio led by bass flautist Bob Chadwick performing.

Bob had an acoustic bassist and guitarist with him who were both quite good, but I did not catch their names. Bob says some of his favorite flute players include Eric Dolphy and Hubert Laws. Bob's trio played a lot of Bossa Nova, as well as some west coast hard bop, overall their sets reminded me of Herbie Mann.

Bob performs around the Houston area playing jazz and world music, so go check him out. I have lived in Houston before, and it is very under-rated as a jazz city. I saw great artists on a weekly basis when I lived there.
