Shouldn't this record be Hard-Bop? It is now labeled Bop, wich is synonymous to be-bop, wich it is not, in my opinion. The record is very mellow. Somewhere I read Sonny makes soul-jazz aswell, but i have no idea. My guess is hardbop or postbop.

^ No, thats a be-bop album. bebop uses functional harmony, lots of ii V I chord progressions, lots of old show tunes etc. Hard bop has more modern harmony, modal or urban blues based. Solo style is different too. Bird is bebop, Trane is hard bop.
Bop is just the modern way of saying bebop. Sonny plays in a lot of styles, he started in bebop and later got into hard bop, soul jazz and more.
