I love his albums from Riverside the best. This was the first studio with Charlie Rouse. I would love a dollar for every album Art Taylor played drums on. He is here of course. Thad Jones plays cornet and Sam Jones , bass. Also like his Vol 2 (Blue Note, "Genius of Modern Music"). I read that Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff did not have a clue what to name his early stuff and somehow, someone said "he is a genuis' and there you go.

for me it all sounds as I already heard it all - there are lot of themes and tricks coming from different previous albums, and nothing different (I don't say new) at all. Most probably if it would be band's debut (I mean just deleting all their legacy from our heads) it would be quite good album on its own manner.

Of course I bought this, saw him about 2 months back.........again. I think it is about the 9th or 10th tour in a row. I have lost count, lol Everybody is raving about this Bootleg release but if one thinks about the original release, they did pick the majority of the gems. Great stuff but this really is for hard core fans. Incomplete takes, various alt takes, some have poor sound, and false starts. I do like it a lot but as before, fans only. Bob could fart in the mic and I am sure there would be a bootleg out before you know it. I still have two discs to go in the set but giving number 3 another play this time.
