I'd like to suggest these guys for JMA. I'm leaning towards JR Improv - the majority of their albums are entirely improv-based, and along with the rock in their style there's a decently large bit of jazziness, particularly in some of the chord structures and the drumming.
Samples are scarce on Youtube, but here's one video (two parts, both footage from the same show) in pretty good quality with the group: |
