In fifty-plus years as a hardcore jazz fan, I've assembled fairly large collection (vinyl and CD). Of course I listen to it a lot myself, but recently I've felt an urge to share it (or more accurately my love of it) with others. But how to do so in a way different from the typical You Tube single soundtrack backed by a static image (or images) of the featured artist?

As a writer (by trade and temperament) my solution has been to present some of my favorite tracks in the form of four (so far) album-length (52-55 minute) sets, all performance accompanied by slideshows that tell stories suggested by the song's title, mood or theme.

The artists featured are a mix of acknowledged giants of the Bop/Post Bop Era (Gordon, Mobley, Getz, Coltrane, Davis, Evans) along with players I feel have been underappreciated (JR Monterose, Sahib Shihab, Frank Strozier, Brew Moore). And in the case of the former I've tried to avoid the "greatest hits" in favor of lesser known gems.

The channel is Cal’s Café and it can be accessed at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSySg1k8kc_A2ZXScvaQhKA

I'd appreciate hearing from others if I've managed to achieve the enjoyable "novelty" I hoped for when creating the project.

Thanks.
