Although we're getting late in the year there is certainly no shortage of exciting jazz releases coming out. First there are a superb pair of release on the excellent Savant label, with tenor saxophonist JD Allen merging tradition and modernity in his visionary The Dark, the Light, the Grey and the Colorful, whilst drummer Brandon Sanders honors his grandmother's memory through fresh takes on jazz standards in The Tables Will Turn. Stína Ágústsdóttir’s Yours Unfaithfully captivates with haunting vocals and rich instrumentation, Sarah Neufeld, Rebecca Foon and Richard Reed Parry's First Sounds charts fresh improvised waters, and Philip Clemo’s Through the Wave of Blue explores profound emotional landscapes. And finally vibraphonist Dick Sisto and pianist Andy LaVerne celebrate Bill Evans in their live album Two for Bill.

Tenor saxophonist JD Allen is a true visionary, merging diverse musical styles to create a dynamic fusion of tradition and modernity.
