   We're celebrating this Easter weekend with some exciting new releases! The award-winning Rhiannon Giddens presents her new album What Did The Blackbird Say To The Crow, exploring the traditional music of the banjo and fiddle whilst looking to the wisdom of previous mentors. Introspection and personal significance is the inspiration behind pianist Markus Burger’s Accidental Tourists - Songs Inspired by People and Places, featuring a resonant and reflective collection of originals and Charlie Ballantine blends jazz with the sounds of Americana music in East By Midwest. The Medler Sextet are taking the lead from jazz pioneers such as Gil Evans and Mingus in River Paths and singer Angela Verbrugge revisits well-known melodies but applies her stylistic approach in Somewhere. What Did the Blackbird Say To The Crow 
Grammy and Pulitzer prize winner Rhiannon Giddens celebrates North Carolina fiddle and banjo traditions in her new album, alongside her former Carolina Chocolate Drops bandmate Justin Robinson. Recorded outdoors at locations tied to their musical roots, including the homes of their mentors Joe Thompson and Etta Baker, the album captures not only the music but the natural soundscape around them, including cicadas and birdsong. Embracing serendipity and history, the album features eighteen tracks and acts as a tribute to mentors and continues Giddens’ career-long mission to spotlight overlooked voices in American music.

Created alongside longtime duo partner Jan von Klewitz and jazz legends Peter Erskine and Bob Magnusson, the music reflects moments from a memorable tour through Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, as well as a powerful performance at Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik, Iceland. Each piece captures a story, emotion, or setting: from serene nights and rhythms that reflect the ocean to the stillness of an Icelandic winter. East by Midwest 
Baltimore-based guitarist Charlie Ballantine delivers his new release, blending his Americana roots with influences of Wes Montgomery and Freddie Hubbard. Since relocating to the East Coast, his music has absorbed new energy from the vibrant scene and new collaborations, particularly with renowned New York drummer Dan Weiss who joins him on this album. Long-time musical partner and fellow Indiana native Quinn Sternberg completes the trio on bass, bringing depth from his extensive experience in New Orleans, and resulting in a rich, dynamic interplay throughout the album.
