Al-Qaeda is trying to kill the Touareg music from Mali and Algeria; great musicians are under threat!
To kill their music is to destroy their culture and exterminate one entire people.

Jazz, blues, samba, rock, reggae, salsa, rumba, etc, they all have a root planted here.

It was very good. Thank you for sharing this. I am not familiar with such a music very much, but such a music is conveyed and should be protected. I have checked Salif Keita as a musician from Mali before. Probably Matt will know it, too. Anyway, I am interested in these music, but feel that it is necessary to know their culture.
