Hey all. I'm a newbie from Prog Archives like many. I will definitely be wanting suggestions but not of the usual "what to start with?" type. I grew up around Kind of Blue, Coltrane Plays the Blues, among other classics that are, for many, their introductory albums. I want to know your favorite jazz albums even if they are those albums (Kind of Blue ranks as one of my favs), but I'm not particularly looking for an introduction. Wink

Welcome to the site. I want you to listen to Japanese jazz. Probably the Oriental melody believes that it is the unknown world and is fresh for you. WinkSmile

Thanks all. I will be checking these out. I was surprised at the small amount of reviews compared to PA. I need to get some of my peers on here.

Absolutely, bring some jazz fans, that'd be great!

Love to see a few reviews too, what's some of your other favourites?

Just finished it. Great album! Ole and Aisha were my favorites too.

Working on a review for KOB, but the ideas haven't crystallized in my head just yet. Any review-writing suggestions?

Fantastic - it's probably my second fav Coltrane album, love it :)

Hmmm... maybe a couple - first one being to check out a few of John's as they're all tops.

Maybe also discuss personnel a bit, ground the album historically/genre-wise and in the artists' own canon, and then discuss aspects you felt were successful/not successful. I'm biased against reviews that do a detailed blow by blow track review, but I personally mention most songs in my reviews, some only in passing though. Hope that helps, the suggestions are bit rambling I know!

Thanks. I tend to be a bit picky when I write. I have to arrange and rearrange constantly. This will help a lot.
