Hello,
I was fortunate enough to be in college in the late 70s with people who got me into Jazz and Jazz Fusion bands.
Some names were: Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return To Forever ( a personal favorite ), Brecker Brothers, Miles Davis....blah blah blah...
Once I left school, I moved away from it.
My main source at school was a friend studying to be a Tonmeister. That said, his influence was all over the map....from the Dead to DeJohnette.
I know some of the greats are still around, like Jack DeJohnette, Chick Corea, Michael Walden and Stanley Clarke to name a very few.
I'm here for input on some new blood. Since I've been away from it for so long, I don't know the names.
I live north of New York City and I know there are some great venues there for Jazz. The new bloods would be good for listening too, not just going to see.
So any and all input would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Thanks, I can spread out from there with Spotify.
Can you or anyone else please suggest more new jazz/fusion people?
Thanks again for your time.

For more of a jazz direction, there's always Brad Mehldau:

Thanks.
I've been reading many of the threads here, crazy.
Rolling me back to the old college days I explained above.
My Jazz friend would start with an album, and seven or eight albums later, we followed one of the players all the way through, playing with different groups and in different modes.
Thanks again. Hope I can add to the site.

Sorry it's been a while. Checked out Dave Douglas, wow, ended up with one of my favorite traditional grip drummers...Steve Gadd Band Leverkusen Jazztage 2015. Saw him touring with Eric Clapton in NYC a while a go...I'm missing so much. Got my wife a 16GB Apple Shuffle for Xmas, my little 4GB shuffle is full!! Maybe I should switch...please advise on more!!!!!!
