There is a compilation of Miles Davis's early 50's recordings on Blue Note called Miles Davis Volume 1. I found the album on this site in Miles Davis's compilations, but much of the album info is incorrect. This is what I have on my CD:
1. Dear Old Stockholm 2. Chance it (alternate take) 3. Chance it 4. Donna (alternate take) 5. Donna 6. Woody 'n you (alternate take) 7. Woody 'n you 8. Yesterdays 9. How Deep is the Ocean 10. Take Off 11. Lazy Susan 12. The Leap 13. Well you needn't 14. Weirdo 15. It Never Entered my Mind #1-9: MILES DAVIS, trumpet; J.J. JOHNSON, trombone; JACKIE McLEAN, alto sax; GIL COGGINS, piano; OSCAR PETTIFORD, bass; KENNY CLARKE, drums. #10-15: MILES DAVIS, trumpet; HORACE SILVER, piano; PERCY HEATH, bass; ART BLAKEY, drums. |

Are they all alternate takes, even though only some are listed as such?

"Vol 1" added is a first edition of this compilation, released in 1956 (vinyl). I just copy/paste info from our addition here (in full):
A1 Tempus Fugit A2 Kelo A3 Enigma A4 Ray's Idea A5 How Deep Is The Ocean A6 C.T.A. (Alternate Master) B1 Dear Old Stockholm B2 Chance It B3 Yesterdays B4 Donna (Alternate Master) B5 C.T.A. B6 Would'n You (Alternate Master) Line-up/MusiciansAlto Saxophone – Gil Coggins (tracks: A5, B2 to B4, B6), Jackie Mclean (tracks: A5, B2 to B4, B6)Bass – Oscar Pettiford (tracks: A5, B2 to B4, B6), Percy Heath (tracks: A1 to A4, A6) Drums – Art Blakey (tracks: A1 to A4, A6), Kenny Clark (tracks: A5, B2 to B4, B6) Piano – Gil Coggins (tracks: A1 to A4, A6) Tenor Saxophone – Jimmy Heath (tracks: A1 to A4, A6) Trombone – Jay Jay Johnson Trumpet – Miles Davis About this release12" Blue Note LP - BLP 1501 (US)Miles Davis Vol.1 and Vol.2 were the first ever released 12" LPs by Blue Note (with numbers BLP 1501 and 1502) and collected all tracks from the three 10" albums that were recorded and released in 1952 (Young Man With a Horn), 1953 (Miles Davis, Vol.2) and 1954 (Miles Davis, Vol.3) plus alternate takes. They were re-released as CDs in chronological sequence and (later) with the old 10" covers Your track list looks like one of many reissues of this original album on CD (most probably Blue Note CDP 7 81501 2 from 1988). We always add original (first edition) info for every album (at least when possible).
