Here's how to play: you have to connect a musician to their tie with Miles Davis, who played with a lot of musicians, within 6 degrees of separation.

For example:

Stanley Clarke < Chick Corea < Miles Davis

Stanley Clarke plays with Chick Corea who played with Miles Davis.

or

Eric Krasno < Adam Deitch < John Scofield < Billy Cobham < Miles Davis

Ok ready?
I'll start with an easy one.

Jaco Pastorius

Jaco Pastorius < Pat Metheny < Gary Barton < Chick Corea < Herbie Hancock < Miles Davis

Is it OK?

Yes. You could even have connected Jaco with Herbie and skip the others.

Now you choose the next musician.

Tony Williams > Miles Davis

That one was a little too easy.

Maybe McKnight played with Hancock on a later album, but I've always known him as the guy who replaced Hancock in the Headhunters. I was thinking more like:
McKnight > Mike Clarke > Hancock  >  Miles

Bill Laswell always wanted to work with Miles, but re-mixing his music doesn't count.

I didn't even think about that. I was thinking FZ < George Duke < Billy Cobham < Miles Davis, but that works too.

I have a specific path in mind but I'm open to surprises :3

Huh, I thought Fripp => Theo Travis => Steven Wilson => Adam Holzman => Miles Davis.

The 70's were just too inbred :3 gg

I'm going to throw a random name out there, I have no idea if you can relate him to Miles in six degrees, but let's see...

Dave Grohl
