We’re finishing February in style, with a brand new selection of releases! A groundbreaking and never-before-released concert features the one and only Ella Fitzgerald and members of the Duke Ellington Orchestra in The Moment of Truth: Ella at the Coliseum. Mixed and mastered from the original analogue multitrack tapes, the recording dates back to their concert at the Oakland Coliseum in 1967. The all-star female quintet ensemble Artemis returns to Blue Note with Arboresque, proving why they’ve been voted Downbeat’s “Jazz Group of the Year” twice in a row. Billy Hart demonstrates his finesse on the drums in Just, Jon Balke combines technology and piano in his new album Skrifum, and there’s plenty of cinematic soundscapes in Eyolf Dale’s When Shadows Dance

Having been recently unearthed in the private tape collection of Verve Records founder Norman Granz, this album is a never-previously-released concert from the "First Lady of Song" herself in 1967. Joined by members of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, this album features nine tracks - some never before recorded by - and this album certainly serves as the latest reminder that there was never a time when Ella didn't deliver anything less than perfection.

Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV

The all-female quintet is back with their third Blue Note album, Arboresque. With a tracklist made from a composition by each band member, plus three covers arranged by bandleader and pianist Renee Rosnes, this new addition to their growing discography confirms that the music of Artemis is still at the forefront of lyrical and contemporary jazz.

Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV

Founded in traditions of jazz but not afraid to embrace fresh and contemporary sounds, Billy Hart’s quartet put nuance and sophistication at the heart of his new album. With Hart’s technical and dynamic drumming creating the rhythmic foundation, there’s plenty of chemistry between the quartet and this subtle interplay between players takes centre stage in Just.

Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV

Combining monophonic and singular piano lines with electronic audio tools, Jon Balke continues his EMC discography with Skrifum. Pulling out frequencies from the piano and developing them through his personal audio tool ‘Spektrafon’, the tracks are a series of soundscapes with melodic improvisations woven with the hands of an explorative pianist.

Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV

The new trio album from Eyolf Dale places emphasis on rich melodies and light textures in When Shadows Dance. Cinematic and immersive, Dale’s compositions are driven by his connections to Nordic traditions, as well as blending jazz, folk and classical elements together. With Dale’s melodic piano at the forefront, he is joined by Per Zanussi’s grounding basslines and Audun Kleive’s light and rhythmic percussion.

Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV
