A truly broad selection this week for new releases! Starting off, we have Janette Mason’s ReWired that explores popular music from 1940 until the present day, reworked with fresh jazz arrangements and centred around the acoustic sound of the piano. Norway’s Daniel Herskedal celebrates his tenth album with Edition Records in Movements of Air and star of the screen Jeff Goldblum releases his new album with guest stars in Still Blooming. Drummer Bill Stewart presents his live album, recorded at the same venue that hosted the great drummers of his youth in Live at The Village Vanguard and pianist Bugge Wesseltoft goes beyond the traditional ECM sound of his previous work in Am Are, a diverse collection of tracks that encompass a huge range of sound and style.

Movements of Air 
Norway’s leading jazz tuba player, Daniel Herskedal, marks his tenth album release with Edition Records and his fifth album with current trio (Eyolf Dale on piano and Helge Andreas Norbakken on percussion) with Movements of Air. From deeply reflective soundscapes to more complicated and developed harmonic compositions, Herskedal celebrates his collaborative spirit and his cinematic approach to musicmaking, inspired by a career writing music for film, working with prestigious ensembles and pushing the boundaries of tuba playing.

Still Blooming 
With a career that spans across music and film, Jeff Goldblum delivers his latest album that features Hollywood guests and the return of The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra. Live at The Village Vanguard 
In his youth, drummer Bill Stewart would lay claim to the best seats in the house to watch drummers such as Tony Williams, Elvin Jones and Roy Haynes from a bird’s eye view at New York’s Village Vanguard; anything to get an insider’s view of the body language of the drummer. Now, years later, Stewart sits at the drummer’s chair and presents his own live album with Criss Cross Jazz, a selection of recordings taken from his concerts at the very same venue in 2023.
