Just confirmed with our new station manager, that ALT2 will be back on air from the first Thursday in October from 8pm and probably through to 11pm. I've gone rather berserk with gathering music over the last 3 months so expect the usual wrt new jazz and definitely expect the unusual wrt not heard so much (if at all), elsewhere but deserves exposure.
Link at:
So for example music will range from Antoine Farad's new solo album to the forgotten brass jazzrock of Rock Workshop of the early 70's, (fronted by the late Alex Harvey). Might sample something from the British power trio The Brew*: cutting through the hype of better guitarist than Hendrix - wot?? - there are moments of excellence I've not heard from a rock band for a long time. And we will be delving into fusions of east European, eastern and middle eastern music with virtually anything (e.g. came across an Albanian jazz album which included a cover of Nick Drake a couple of days ago!!!!)
As ever requests are asked and taken - as long as we can find the track. As yet not thought who could be the featured artist this coming term (remembering last year Kevin Gilbert Captain Beefheart, Gary Lucas featured and there was a weekly prog rock covers section). And as ever, any independent artists looking for radio air time, don't forget the ALT2 (hint to Janeen, Brickhouse).
The show continues to provide Jazzwise magazine with a monthly top ten plays chart, with positions usually determined by listener feedback, so tune in and have your say.
More news before we go on air again.
* Anybody heard of this band before???

Here's a link giving this Thursday's playlist. Note, the music played on ALT2 has never been exclusively jazz-based, indeed one of our slogans is: you don't know what's coming next. Enjoy and feedback always welcomed:

Another ALT2 tonight 8pm BST - check my previous e.mail for links, playlists, etc.. Nice to talk to listeners via e.mails etc during the show - which has been an excellent guide to what jazz I play is most liked, to enable me to select a monthly top ten playlist for Jazzwise magazine.

Good news
We are experimenting with ALT2 rebroadcasting as part of the sustain service, when previously modern day pop music might be heard. In particular for those folks in the US, last Thursdays's show should go out in its entirity at 1am BST Wednesday, ie about 10 hours time (8pm EST). We are hoping to rebroadcast the previous Thursday's show 3 times in the following week, but I will confirm days/times in the near future after agreement with the station manager.

Last week , the emphasis was on Hammond organ jazz, this week (tonight from 8pm GMT) the first 30 minutes at least will be devoted to heavier jazz fusion. Linik should be the same as listed above. Also note, the show is recoorded and will be rebroadcast as part of our sustain service. Because British clocks went back last weekend but N American clock go back this coming weekend, timings across the next week are not simple to relate so please check the header of the play list given at:

Gary Husband's new album Dirty & Beautiful Vol2, is our current album of the month, whilst master drummer Morgan Argen is the featured musician for the term - new improv album Invisible Rays, Agren recorded with Henry Kaiser and Trey Gunn premiered tomorrow. Also playing a couple new albums by artists who the latest edition of Jazzwise are heavily praising: Michael Wollny's and Esperanza Spalding.
Details on the complete playlist found at the end of the thread at PA:
