I'll go with the old classic, Downbeat.
For DJ culture I used to like XLR8R and Vice, but I don't see those mags around Memphis ..ever. RE ebay: ebay is full of fools anymore, I quit using it about 10 years ago.

I still use it occasionally but don't bother with Auctions anymore. Just buy it at the set price if reasonable. When the rare jap Airmail releases (psyche, prog, rock etc) or some others when they are put up for auction, if no one is interested you can pick em' up cheap. They usually are around 2700 Yen new ( $32 Oz or US) about the same parity at the moment. When they go out of print...well
![]() ![]() ![]() I don't bother anymore though John with the auctions though but still like to hear what is being paid out.
I bought a couple of Richard Clapton albums lately, being Australian you are best of using it as all the others are International and most do not carry much of him.
I tell you one thing I noticed since I picked up the turntable, if it is Blue Note, it is expensive. I will admit there are not many I want these days as I have them on cd but thought, get a couple on record I do not have..........forget it for what they ask.

I'm into musician magazines mainly. Modern Drummer, Bass Player, Guitar Player (though I don't play guitar), and early issues of Guitar World (it's a horrible mag nowadays).

Living in Uk I liked to read Mojo (Rolling Stone or Downbeat both looked kind of dinosaurs for me even 6-7 yrs ago, NME was better though), during last 5 yrs internet took the place of them all

Why would I ever read a music magazine?
eBay was more interesting when it was the wild west, but that sort of thing never lasts. |

I love mags to read. I am lucky because I get most for nothing. Granted they are a month old by the time I get them but I will admit they are not cheap and usually when I do actually buy them I am on holidays. It was all we had up to the nineties. The first magazines I bought used to be called Go-Set, Rock of course
