For a bit of fun, make a list as a challenge (if you enjoy maths) using the length of a 45 min LP, and create a 'Best Of' or a 'Collection' for one of/several of your fav artists. (It's tough, coz jazz can often be suited to a double LP collection)

I'll start with one - a Herbie Hancock - a collection of his Post Bop material

Herbie Hancock - Post Bop Collection

Oliloqui Valley
Maiden Voyage
Cantaloupe Island
Mimosa
Goodbye to Childhood
Sonrisa          (maybe this is closer to 3rd stream in some ways, but it's in there now!)

41:11 (the nerd within me added up the exact time to be sure)

Sounds good Ashley, I'll be in with one of my own later today, for now though, your link up there doesn't seem to be working.

^ fixed it - I must of forgot to hit 'paste' before 'post.' Embarrassed

I found this quite hard, but fun, as I had to cut at least 4 pieces that I wanted in there. Might try a 'Funk' Hancock next.

Who are you going for?

I'm thinking a representation of Miles' experiments with static music forms, something that has always interested me. I probably won't be able to put it together till much later though, busy day today and music playing tonight as well.  Wacko

Sounds great, looking forward to that area of Miles' output.
Shame about the busy day but the gig sounds good, I haven't played live for about two years now, which is awful!

I don't have much choice, its a crucial part of my income, at least its a fun band.
What instrument do you play? I have you figured to be a geetar picker.

Getting paid to play in a fun band sounds ace, though - what's your set like in that band?

I meddle with guitar, and played some bass in my old metal band (usually when we went to the studio) - but I was actually the 'singer.' Though I wasn't skilled by any stretch, unless it came to the harsh end of the spectrum. I'm currently learning piano but holy crap it is tough. Wish I'd had lessons when I was a kid, so I'd have had a head start!

That would be an amazing live set, I'd love to see something like that! Smile And then maybe the second set of the night could be the funk side of his work.

We play Memphis bar music, 70s rock, pop and RnB.
Usually I prefer playing in funk or funk-jazz bands, but I need to go where the money is.

^ Cool, that still sounds like a lot of fun, and as you say, where the money is, absolutely.

Ok, one more for now - still so hard to limit myself to 45 minutes:

Herbie Hancock - Some Funk

Just Around the Corner
Lil' Brother
Butterfly
Sly
Hang Up you Hang Ups (Live VSOP)
