This renowned event will once again unfold in the picturesque Park Brakkenstein and the Lindenberg Cultuurhuis in Nijmegen. Embracing musical encounters and exploration, the festival has just unveiled the initial lineup for 2024, promising a dynamic experience for adventurers of all ages. Early Bird 3-day passes are now available for purchase at musicmeeting.nl. For over 35 years, the Music Meeting Festival has transcended styles, genres, and cultures, providing a stage for some of the world’s finest artists. These musicians, often unseen in the Netherlands, present new projects or unique collaborations. The Pentecost weekend in Nijmegen is traditionally dedicated to three days of musical encounters and discoveries, featuring a program resonating with cultural narratives—from South African soul to indigenous voices from Australia, from innovative sound art to enchanting Anatolian music. A remarkable indoor program will unfold entirely within the Lindenberg. Concerts and multi-disciplinary performances on this day will find an intimate setting, allowing the festival to offer attendees an exceptional Music Meeting experience. Earlier this week the organization announced the first four names in the 2024 lineup. Aviva Endean, an Australian composer, clarinetist, improvisator, and performance artist, will serve as the artist in residence, creating a remarkable sonic project each festival day. Nomfusi, the sensational South African singer, renowned for her electrifying performances and a vibrant blend of soul, funk, and gospel, is set to captivate the audience. Ali Dogan Gönültas Trio Ali Dogan Gönültas, born in Anatolia, will showcase his mastery of traditional instruments in compositions filled with dreamy melodies and enchanting vocals. Continuing its tradition of giving voice to indigenous artists, the festival will feature Ngulmiya, representing the rich traditions of the Australian indigenous Aboriginal people, offering a performance rooted in the ancient customs of his ancestors, making its debut appearance in the Netherlands.
