I have  heard 6 albums from the above list, some of them are really great IMO, others - just quality "again the same" music. In all the list looks as strongly mainstream oriented what is not too unusual or strange for "Jazzwise" though

Yeah, I've not heard more than five (though not remembering if the Kit Downes I listened to was this year's) and it's too late to check the rest. Of those five, Matana sort of kicks ass compared to the rest.

I anticipate many more jazz tops like this one in which the artists will barely ring a bell to me.

I've heard nine of them, I am surprised that Brad Mehldau entered the top, his album sounds OK but nothing special, I have to get Marius Neset's album, I've seen some review of his album and I'm curious.

I agree (and even more than agree LOL) about Mehldau album, and yes - ^^ Matana's album is the best from what I heard from this list
