JazzDenmark bio:
"Composer and drummer Emil de Waal newest project "Ombud" is the
international acclaimed artist's third album. Building upon the success
"Live+" and his debut album "Emil de Waal+", Emil de Waal has produced
this album collaborating with experienced and well renowned producer
Andy Green (Velvet Undreground, John Cale) and the Danish DJ/Producer
Spejderrobot (Michael Elkjær). Among other established artist presented
on this album are Kato Hideki and Wayne Horvitz. The album was released
the 1st of October 2008 in three separate versions:• Vinyl lp,
containing the most electronic compositions - 4 tracks on side A and 1
track on side B called IP Live Piece which is recorded live on Issue
Project Room, New York, USA in May 2008 by Bruce Tovsky • CD, containing
8 tracks. • Digital version containing the same 8 tracks as the cd + 2
extra bonus track. Emil de Waal+ deliberately includes the computer as
an additional member of the band and this truly reflects their way of
working. The electronic parts of the music provide not only the basic
rhythmic beat but also the musical harmonies and melodies.Emil de Waal
has played solo, duo or other formats with local musicians. Normally he
plays together with Swedish multi-musician, Gustaf Ljunggren and piano
player Søren Kjærgaard. He has created an innovative approach to
electronic jazz. All the facets of the music are let loose, creating a
floating style suspended in the unexplored sphere between free jazz and
the constant electronic beat.Emil de Waals professional life as a
drummer really took off in 1987 when he and others started the band
Bagdad Dagblad. Since then, he has played with almost everbody in
Denmark and in most genres from underground to universal pop music. Emil
