It is with very mixed emotions that we announce that our drummer of the past three-plus years,Stephen Cavit, has moved on from the band to accept a full-time composer residency. Mixed, because we're delighted that Stephen has been recognized with this richly deserved honor, while at the same time we will sorely miss his presence within the group, both behind the kit and as a treasured friend. With his finely attuned rhythmic sensibility and impeccable musical taste, Stephen had a huge part in the maturation of Moraine and played a pivotal role in many of the band's finest moments. We wish him all the success in the world in his new residency! It's been my extreme pleasure sharing a stage with Moraine. I've met some wonderful people along the way and deeply thank all for their generous support. Looking forward to crossing paths some way, somewhere, down the road. All the best, Stephen.
While no one of Stephen's singular talent can ever truly be 'replaced,' the drum chair in Moraine will now pass to the equally gifted Tom Zgonc, who we'll introduce in a subsequent communique. It will be a couple of months before the band gets back up to speed, but rest assured that Moraine will continue to scour the slopes for a long time to come!
