Hi! I've been trying to put my finger on what I love about "Here & Now" by Badbadnotgood,

... and looking for other music that sounds like it. Would love some recommendations! It sounds like a mix between avant garde jazz, with a pulsating rhythm that might suggest a mechanized motorik or krautrock beat. But then the production and the sound sort of feels like Italian library music or soundtracks. I'm really curious what other people hear when they listen to this, and if it brings to mind any other music like it. Maybe it's just a curious, retro, one-off collage of different styles and that's all it really it is. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts!

Yes, I like that sort of neo exotica too. I can't think of a specific song right now, but music like that is usually found in our Nu Jazz genre.

BBNG!
The only other band(s) that come to mind are musicians who deconstruct jazz rap.
Cool Take for instance, The Jazz Underground

However, I think Bad Bad not Good is essentially a style all their own.

I continued to think about this question, and something you might want to consider is the collaborative album between King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard with Mild High Club.
In particular, their opening track:
Sketches of Brunswick East I

If the album doesn't resonate, maybe one of Mild High Club's albums will fill your fix. Otherwise, it's a really difficult standard to expect from anyone beside Bad Bad Not Good to sound like that.
