Hello everybody. My name is Ben and grew up in the UK in the 90s listening to quite mainstream stuff but I also really liked Jamiroquai and Incognito for example.

I now live in France and I enjoy delving into French artists either on the car radio (such as France Musique, France Culture, TSF Jazz to listen to recent artists), or previous decades such as late 70s and early 80s jazz rock fusion which I really like as well.

I have a hard time really understanding jazz in the 40s, 50s and 60s, although I do enjoy Giant Steps and Mwandishi...

When Gilles Peterson says that he's still searching for the perfect beat, I think I am still searching for the perfect groove and chord progression.

Favourite older artists include Jean-Luc Ponty, Yellowjackets, Weather Report, film arrangers such as Oliver Nelson, Lalo Schifrin, and also a some prog e.g. ELP, Egg, Caravan, Softs. Then more recent artists such as Louis Cole, Snarky Puppy, Glasper...

So I feel very much at home on this forum and I look forward to discussing with you all! Smile
