I dig it. The relevant eras of Mingus, Coltrane, Corea et al contain some of my favourite pieces of music ever.

From my own results so far, Post Bop is my third fave real-jazz genre after fusion avant-garde.... and I seem to rate them albums rather well too.

I probably own more post-bop albums than any other jazz sub-genre besides fusion
same here.
Because i tend to rent more avant-garde jazz without wanting to buy them

Uuuuhmmmm!!!!.... Mandy, don't know how to tell you this, but..... Despite his name CHICK, Corea is a man!!!!....
As for McCoy Tyner (he's my fave pianist all genres together), if I may suggest that you try sahara, Extension, assante and Song For My Lady.... these are the albums where he gets as close to classic fusion, while remaining typically himself and post bop.
------------- my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicted musicians to crazy ones....
