The ‘Serious Space’ music event returns next week for a third year, run by the same team as the EFG London Jazz Festival and supported by the PRS for Music Foundation. Hosted at Richmix in Shoreditch, each night will showcase an emerging performer with a different sound, giving them the opportunity to experiment and create something new. The line-up this year includes artists from Estonia and the US, while Jazz FM Award-winning producer Gilles Peterson will curate a night of fresh British jazz he’s calling ‘Future Bubblers’.

Full lineup:

Tuesday 16 May – Maarja Nuut: Traditional Baltic songs and stories are told using live electronics, voice, strings and looped fiddle to create “impressively original, often edgy and unsettling songs” (The Guardian).

Wednesday 17 May – Adam Naas: Distinctive soul vocal soul-man who opened for St Germain at last year’s EFG London Jazz Festival and recently toured with Gregory Porter.

Thursday 18 May – Madame Gandhi: The former drummer for M.I.A. now creates her own electronic music using drums and vocals to elevate and celebrate the female voice.

Friday 19 May – Gilles Peterson and Brownswood present; Future Bubblers: the new talent discovery and development idea, seeking out and assisting some of the freshest and most innovative music makers from across England – Three Body Trio, Revenu, Elsa Hewitt and Congi (DJ Set).
