Recordings from an earlier era in the career of Bill Laswell's group, Material. This comes from a time when the band was chasing NY City's pre hip-hop 'electric boogaloo' dance scene. Apparently these tracks didn't make it on to Material's one album in that direction. Laswell would later cash in on this musical style when he teamed up with Herbie Hancock to record the hugely successful "Rockit".
