Jazz albums: 2017

Tim Berne's first tour back in 1983 was recorded on cassette and is finally being released. This is avant-garde jazz with a lot of variety. Some parts, such as the opening track, bear a resemblance to early New Orleans jazz with the musicians interacting in collective solos. A surprisingly good recording for a cassette.

The Wladigeroff Brothers combine classic jazz from the late 1920s with Balkan music and contemporary jazz. To say they sound like no one else is quite the understatement.
