How do the artist and album sub-genre classifications work ?
When an artist is first imported to the site, their albums are assigned the sub-genre that seems to fit the majority of their albums. Later, site members may go through and individually evaluate the artist's albums and determine which albums may be of a sub-genre different than the one the artist was originally tagged with. Some artists, such as Miles Davis, may have albums tagged in many different sub-genres.

What are Collaborators?
We are always looking for people who are knowledgeable about jazz, and who may want to help us build the data base of this site. Currently we are especially seeking people with extensive knowledge in the sub-genres of jazz that take place in the years 1900 to 1950. Some of the tasks that collaborators and special collaborators perform include:
- Edit artist profiles
- Evaluate and add artists
- Edit album information and sub-genre classification
- Add MP3s
