Alain Jean-Marie is a jazz pianist born in 1945 in Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.
When he was 8 he learned piano by himself. He made his professional debut in the balls in Guadeloupe playing the local repertoire on his keyboard: beguine, latin jazz, salsa, cha cha. From 1967 to 1970, Alain Jean-Marie moved to Canada, then he came back to Guadeloupe.
He moved to Paris in 1973 and played often with the greatest musicians: Chet Baker, Sonny Stitt, Art Farmer, Johnny Griffin, Lee Konitz, Bill Coleman, Max Roach, Christian Escoudé…
He won the Django Reinhardt award in 1979 and regularly plays piano for the singer Dee Dee Bridgewater from 1986. The same year he recorded a duet with bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen.
