ASDRUBAL picture
Originally formed as a quartet in 2002, the present sextet ASDRUBAL adventures seeking new ways to express the music of the Banda Pelayera and chirimia (traditional folkloric formats from the different coasts of Colombia). Articulating their music with a variety of elements from everyday urban sonorities – spontaneous improvisation, rock, free, jazz, punk, minimalism, amongst others -, Asdrubal offers a fortunate meeting ground for two different, apparently irreconcilable musical languages: the traditionally folkloric and the contemporary.

The band has dedicated its time to composing original music and has stood out due to their live performances in important festivals, theatres and concert halls in the national circuit. It is important to recognize the following as some of their most important:

- Theater Jorge Eliecer Gaitan. Honorable Mention in the contest of popular urban music composition, Institute for Culture and Tourism (2002).
