Born in Vienna, Austria (1975), though I was already influenced by the „Hollywood-Jazz“ of the Thirties, Forties and Fifties as a child without knowing it, it took me a long time to realize my true love for Jazz. At the age of seven I had started learning playing the piano at local music school for the next seven years. After a long pause (and my short career as a bookseller) I finally enrolled as a jazzpiano student of Paul Urbanek at the age of 23 and graduated 2004. If you ask me about my idol, I would not mention a pianist, but rather a Hollywood composer like Henry Mancini, Lalo Schifrin or a big band leader such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Oliver Nelson, Gil Evans, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis or even Maria Schneider. I adore the sound and so I just founded my own Big Band (BBBB)
