Beverly Kenney was, indeed a tragic figure among jazz vocalists. Although, there isn't much information available about this young woman from Harrison, NJ, I've managed to discover that she was a very tallented jazz singer (just listen to her work) in the 1950s. Sadly, as her star was rising, jazz was being pushed aside for more modern forms of music and she took her own life in NYC in 1960.
Her short list of albums include:
Born to Be Blue Come Swing with Me Like Yesterday Beverly Kenney Sings for Johnny Smith Beverly Kenney Sings for Playboys Snuggled on Your Shoulder Beverly Kenney with Jimmy Jones and the Basie-ites
She is especially popular with Jazz Vocal listeners in Japan. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License and may also be available under the GNU FDL.
