Bob began playing piano when he was 5 years old, and has played bass and piano professionally for more than 30 years, spanning a spectrum of styles. He can often be found playing jazz at local venues, or playing private engagements with the area musicians.
He has been performing in the Upper Connecticut River Valley for more than 20 years. As a silent film accompanist for Dartmouth’s Hopkins Center Film, he was presented with an award for playing his 50th film in 1999. He continues to delight silent film audiences with his imaginative improvised scores.
Bob Merrill has accompanied ballet classes for Pacific Northwest Ballet, and for Jacques d'Amboise's National Dance Institute tour of New Hampshire schools.
He has produced albums, jingles, and music for video and film, and composer/accompanist for Dartmouth Film Society's silent films since 1989. By day he is a composer, producer and audio engineer at his studio, Sweet Spot
