Colombian jazz pianist Carolina Calvache, is part of the new generation of pianist and composers whose style blends South American rhythms with a contemporary jazz sound. Her participation in 2011 Mary Lou Williams woman in jazz festival for outstanding artists, brought the attention of the North east audiences at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. Legendary pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi described her music as “ Marvelous”. “Originally from Colombia, this young “lioness” is certain to break through to become a prominent pianist on the national jazz scene. Carolina is a New York City based pianist who has played and collaborated with musicians such as Antonio Sanchez, Jaleel Shaw, Michael Rodriguez, John Benitez, Samuel Torres, Ludwig Afonso, John Elis, Linda Oh, Hans Glawishing, Rodrigo Recabarren, Ross Pederson, Petros Klampanis, Uri read more...
