Chiara Pancaldi was born and raised in Bologna, a small town in the North of Italy. She started classical piano studies at 10, and singing since her very early childhood. She soon developed an interest in jazz, singing along with the records and jamming with friends. Chiara graduated from the University of Bologna in 2008 with a Master’s Degree in Anthropology, then graduated from the Conservatory of Bologna in 2012 with a Master’s Degree in Jazz Music. She attended many workshops with great artists such as Michele Hendricks, Rachel Gould, Roberta Gambarini, Jeremy Pelt, Harold Mabern, Barry Harris, Vincent Harring, Bob Stoloff, Sheila Jordan, Dena DeRose. For several years she also practiced Drupad, a kind of North Indian Classical music, studying in Italy with Francesca Cassio and in Varanasi (India) with Ritwick Sanyal.
