Daniel Bernardes was born in Alcobaça-Portugal in 1986. He started his piano studies by the age of five with Paulo Barbosa, and later on with Luís Batalha. In 2002, he makes his appearance with Hybrid Jazz Machine, a project by saxophone player Mário Marques. In 2003 attends Emmanuel Nunes' Composition Courses in Fundação C. Gulbenkian. In 2004 plays in S. Luiz' Theatre's Jazz Fest on a band oriented by bass player Carlos Barretto. As a composer he attends the Stockhausen-Kurse für Musik in Kürten-Germany. This same year he moves to Paris to continue his studies with pianist Marian Rybicki at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. Still in Paris, he worked with pianist Jean Fassina. In 2005 he's awarded 2nd Prize in the Marrocco National Piano Competition, later this year he's invited to play at Salle Cortot in Paris.
