What a superb and yet very humble plea for artistic creation! Humble and superb because the author, subjected by necessity, draws a never ending dynamic.
My musical trade tilts towards creation. Without illusions or pretensions; I am not looking to be listed in the dictionary, I only want to live the music. That means that I come up with musical elements: some have always been a part of my life, others only since this morning. They may also surface in the heat of the moment. What I call ‘musical elements’ covers a wide field, objective : a chord, a rhythm, the sound of an instrument, or subjective : a perception, a sensation. For example the joy I felt while listening to Sydney Bechet when I was 5 or 6 years old, or the terrible melancholy that came over me around that same time, as I listened to Django Reinhardt, both engraved
