GABRIEL PROKOFIEV picture
English composer, producer and DJ Gabriel Prokofiev is the founder of the Nonclassical record label and clubnight. He made his Royal Ballet debut in 2015 as composer for Shobana Jeyasingh’s Bayadère – The Ninth Life in the Linbury Studio Theatre.

Prokofiev, son of artist Oleg and grandson of composer Sergei, was born in London and studied at Birmingham and York universities. He founded Nonclassical in 2003; its first CD release included Prokofiev’s String Quartet no.1 and a selection of remixes of the piece. His work is informed by his backgrounds in both classical and popular music, especially his work as a DJ and a producer of hip-hop, grime and electro.
