Gifted with an exquisite voice and an exceptional understanding of the jazz idiom, Margot is known for the impact she continues to have on the Canadian jazz scene. Her authentic sound and creatively modern approach to music make for unforgettable performances.
Margot graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts double major in Music and Anthropology from York University, where she studied with multi-instrumentalist Don Thompson (George Shearing, John Handy Quintet), renowned conductor and arranger John Gittins (Oscar Peterson), and the late Bobby Fenton (Time Warp, Forth Inversion). While at York she twice received the Ella Fitzgerald Award and Scholarship for excellence in jazz and she performed extensively with Canada's acclaimed Afro-centric choir The Nathaniel Dett Chorale, with whom she still occasionally tours. Determined to develop her own project, Margot has taken her jazz trio to Australia and Hong Kong. In 2007, Margot was awarded the Chalmers Professional Development Grant by the Ontario
