A very good modern jazz group from Denmark, Gramski' Beat has created a personal sound that is not limited only to jazz but embraces sounds and rhythms from rock music - without however being trapped in formalities.
The creation of drummer Jeppe Gram, the group "constructs" its sound on attractive melody and rhythm foundations, thus producing a beautiful narrative score, with strong improvisation disposal. All members of the group are experienced musicians: Gram himself has been playing music since he was 13 years old, Ned Ferm began his professional career in the orchestra of creative American trombone player Roswell Rudd, trombone player Mads Hyhne has worked (among others) with American bass player Steve Swallow, while bass player Nicolai Munch-Hansen has toured and played with American saxophonist George Garzone. But all these sound rather formalities for a group that has managed to create its own musical identity…
