Surprisingly it was the guitar and the drums that French flautist Guillaume Barraud started playing at a very young age, and it wasn’t until his encounter with the Indian music legend Hariprasad Chaurasia that he began to find his voice with the subtle and haunting sound of the indian bamboo flute. From 2001 to 2006, he dedicated himself to North Indian Classical Music and the Bansuri and spent five years under the maestro’s tutelage, at the ‘Vrindaban Gurukul’ in Bombay. Deeply immersed in Indian culture, he was able to assimilate the spirit and authenticity of this secular tradition. He’s now an accomplished exponent of the Bansuri flute recital.
