Saxophonist/composer, born Sep. 28.th. 1965 in Copenhagen. Studies at Berklee College of Music from 1984-86, and studies/work in New York 1986-87. Studies/work in New York in 1995. Leader of the following groups: ”Pinocchio” (87), ”Hans Ulrik Fusion” (88-89), ”Ulrik/Hess Quartet” (89-90),”Wombat” (from 95), ”Hans Ulrik Jazz & Mambo” from 98-03. Currently: Hans Ulrik Quartet with Lars Jansson (S). Has recorded as a leader with: Gary Peaco ck, Mino Cinelu, Adam Nussbaum, Niels Lan Doky, Lars Jansson, Marilyn Mazur, John Scofield, Peter Erskine, Steve Swallow a.o. Also performances with e.g.: Marilyn Mazur´s Future Song, Danish Radio Big Band, Michael Ruff, Cæcilie Norby, Joey Baron, Jeff Ballard, Marc Johnson, Eliane Elias, Lisa Nilsson a.o. 2010: Touring Taiwan with Lars jansson (S) and Japan with Kasper Tranberg (DK) a.o. 2009: Recording and toruring with Eivind Aarset, Anders Jormin, Audun Kleive a.o. 2006: Jazzspecial ” Best Jazz CD of the Year” with the CD ”Tribal Dance” 2005 Montreal Jazzfestival w.
