Hugo Corbin is a French-born jazz guitarist, arranger and composer who was raised on the Caribbean island of Martinique. Hugo was inspired by the live street concerts happening everyday in Martinique and by his mother, a jazz singer. Very early on, Hugo learned the ropes of playing guitar listening to Led Zeppelin, Queen and Jeff Buckley. He returned to his jazz roots after meeting in France a New Orleans clarinetist who introduced him to street concerts in Normandy where he settled with his family at 17 years old. He studied Jazz at the Amercian School of Modern Music in Paris from which he graduated in 2009 in the presence of Lionel Loueke as guest of honor. He obtained in 2011 a DEM (Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales: Musical studies diploma) after Jazz Music Studies at Noisiel Conservatoire (France) with Fréderic Favarel.
